The hostilities between countries India and Pakistan are on the rise, and amidst all this filmmaker Shyam Benegal has come with an idea to promote peace. Media reports have it that Shyam will be producing an Indo-Pak movie which may feature actor Fawad Khan in the lead.
The movie will be helmed by Harsh Narayan, and is tentatively titled ‘Ye Raaste Hai Pyar Ke’. The movie will chronicle the journey of two musicians who embark on a journey in two countries and discover themselves on way.
In the past, Narayan has played a keen role in bringing Pakistani students to India to attend Vipassna programmes. He had also taken classical vocalist LK Pandit and his composer-grand-daughter Meeta of the Gwalior Gharana to perform across the border in Pakistan.
Led by Harsh Narayan, the makers are reportedly in talks with Fawad to have him on board as the musician. However, given the current dynamics between the countries Fawad is sceptical about signing the project.
Harsh, speaking about the movie, told a leading daily that Fawad is keen to do the project. He added that the heartthrob is most likely to take a decision on this when the situation cools down.
Fawad was subject to a lot of hatred and criticism in the recent past. Post the Uri attacks, MNS demanded a ban on Pakistani actors. After matters escalated, film body The Indian Motion Picture Producers Association put a ban on Pak artistes.
There were reports that in these hostile times, Fawad may be replaced with Karan Johar’s upcoming directorial ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’. Later, the makers shunned these rumours saying that Fawad is very much a part of the movie.
