Hera Pheri is one of the most celebrated comedy franchises of Bollywood. People still can't get over the funny trio of Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal. While the first one was directed by Priyadarshan in 2000, its sequel Phir Hera Pheri was helmed by Neeraj Vora in 2006. First film was a huge hit but the second instalment failed to gain the same love.
Now, after more than a decade, director Indra Kumar's announcement of Hera Pheri 3 made its fans jump out in joy. The director took to Twitter to announce, ''This is going to be a fun project with a stellar star cast @akshaykumar @SunielVShetty @SirPareshRawal Looking forward to #HeraPheri3''.
However, in an interview with DNA, Paresh Rawal, who plays the role of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte in the franchise denied being approached for the flick. He said that the rumours of Hera Pheri 3 has been there since ages but he hasn't been approached yet. However, he agreed that there should be a sequel to it because it is a terrific franchise.
Rawal said, ''I have been hearing about it since ages but no one has approached me yet. But I believe it should be made, it's a terrific film, a terrific franchise. But they should show some growth in the characters otherwise there is no fun in doing the same, old thing again and again. They should also have an interesting story. For examples, Lage Raho Munna Bhai was technically Munna Bhai MBBS' sequel but they showed a quantum leap. If someone has the guts to make a sequel of Hera Pheri, they should make it like this.''
He also pointed out the mistake they made in Phir Hera Pheri. The actor said that they got a little too over-smart.
Meanwhile, Rawal will next be seen essaying the character of Sunil Dutt in Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Sanju. He is also playing the role of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval in Uri.
