Dhanush is one of the most popular mainstream heroes in Kollywood. Son of director Kasturi Raja, brother to director Selvaraghavan and son-in-law to superstar Rajinikanth, Dhanush is one of the very few Tamil heroes who manage to do masala as well as realistic films at the same time.

In 2013, Dhanush made a blockbuster entry in Bollywood with the superhit film, Raanjhanaa. He bowled everyone over with his natural acting. Post that he also featured in Amitabh Bachchan’s Shamitabh.

Today Dhanush is celebrating his 33rd birthday and going by the latest media reports he has received the best birthday present this year.

The buzz is strong that Dhanush will again be seen in a Hindi film in Wazir director Bejoy Nambiar's remake of Mani Ratnam's 1988 super-hit Tamil film Agni Natchathiram.

However, there is no conformation from Dhanush over the reports but it’s indeed good news for all his fans in the Hindi belt.

1. Dhanush is the stage name of this actor. His real name is Venkatesh Prabhu Kasthuri Raj.

2. He was born in a very poor family. Dhanush’s father worked as a mill worker before entering the film industry as an assistant director.

3. Dhanush is a great follower of Lord Shiva. He named his two sons Yatra (pilgrimage) and Linga (synonymous with Shiv Lingam).

4. Dhanush acted for the first time ever at the age of 16 in a movie directed by his father.

5. Dhanuh wanted to pursue a course in Hotel Management and planned on becoming a chef. But his elder brother Selvaraghavan, who is now a director, pressurised him to get into acting and then there was no looking back for Dhanush.

6. Dhanush’s song Kolaveri Di was written in flat six minutes and its rough version was recorded in 35 minutes. The song became the first Indian video song to cross 100 million views on YouTube and bagged international recognition to Dhanush.

7. Dhanush met Rajnikanth’s daughter, Aishwarya at the screening of his film, Kadhal Kondaen and fell in love with her. Aishwarya is elder to Dhanush by two years.
