Actress Deepika Padukone started filming a folk song for her upcoming movie ‘Padmavati’ in Mehboob Studios, Mumbai today. Superstar Shah Rukh Khan, who was present in the same precincts, met Deepika.
The Rajasthani folk song, a source told a leading daily, is being filmed on a grand scale and features only Deepika. The song is choreographed in traditional ‘ghoomar’ style.
The background dancers were seen clad in traditional lehenga, blouses and wore heavy traditional jewellery, reported the daily. However, Deepika’s look has been well guarded.
Apparently, SLB doesn’t want to risk the looks of his principle actors Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Deepika to be leaked. To ensure this, these actors will go from their vanity vans to the sets in makeshift tents. He is also reported to issue strict orders to the crew to not bring cell phones with them to the sets.
While none of the outsiders would get a glance of Deepika’s look, Shah Rukh Khan must have caught it when he dropped by at the sets. During the visit, SRK was accompanied by her ‘Dear Zindagi’ co-star Alia Bhatt.

‘Padmavati’ is Deepika’s third movie with SLB, the earlier ones being ‘Ram Leela: Goliyon ki Raas Leela’ and ‘Bajirao Mastani’. Interestingly, for ‘Bajirao Mastani’ Deepika learnt the dance form Kathak. In the song ‘Mohe Rang Do Laal’, Deepika was choreographed by Pandit Birju Maharaj. Now her learning ‘ghoomar’ for this folk song tells her dedication towards work.
In ‘Padmavati’, Deepika essays the role of brave Rajput queen Padmini who jumped in a pyre after Delhi’s Sultan Alauddin Khilji defeated her husband Raja Ratan Singh’s army. Khilji was in awe of Padmini’s beauty and wanted to make her his wife, but his intentions were doomed after her brave step.
‘Padmavati’ is slated to release on 17th November 2017.
