Reports of Kareena Kapoor Khan being part of Irrfan Khan's Angrezi Medium was doing the rounds from quite a long time. After the actress herself confirmed the reports, makers have released an official statement confirming that Kareena is part of Homi Adajania directorial. The sequel to the sleeper hit Hindi Medium has Irrfan Khan and Radhika Madan in important roles.
Talking about the new entrant, producer Dinesh Vijan told an entertainment portal, ''Kareena is a great addition to our franchise. Angrezi Medium is a very special film, and I’m excited that she’s going to be a part of it. We wanted to introduce this character who would be taken forward in the franchisees to come, and she’s perfect for it. Here she plays a cop, a role she’s actually never done before. We will be shooting in London this June, and it will be great to be back on set with her."
Earlier in an interview, Kareena called herself a ''huge fan'' of Irrfan and said that the shooting will be ''quite a surreal experience'' for her. ''It's a small but interesting part and also I think that I just wanted to get out of my comfort zone and do a movie that would throw me into a different milieu and see how it goes. Whether it's Homi or it's Irrfan and Deepak (Dobriyal), I think it's all a different world for me to be a part of so that would be interesting,'' she added.
Angrezi Medium will have Irrfan Khan playing Champak, a sweet shop owner in Udaipur while Radhika will play his daughter aspiring for studies in abroad. Earlier, sharing his first look, the actor wrote, ''GMB serving since 1900s It’s going to be fun to tell another story #AngreziMedium. Coming soon, with Mr Champakji...Aa Raha Hu phir entertain Karne Sabko''.
As per reports, Irrfan and Deepak Dobriyal will play brothers in the film who have inherited a 100-year-old sweet business and are also rivals. Manu Rishi will play a distant cousin, who owns the biggest sweet shop also adds to the rivalry within the family.
On a related note, Irrfan resumed the work after completing his treatment. The actor flew out to London after being diagnosed with NeuroEndocrine Tumour.
