The trailer of the social drama dropped on 11 December, where Emraan Hashmi is seen playing a shrewd scamster who fraudulently gets students into engineering and management colleges.

Soon after its release, the film came under the scanner of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The members of the CBFC objected to the tagline of the film, "Akal mein hi nakal hai," and said it could be interpreted as promoting cheating ad misleading youngsters.

Directed by Soumik Sen, the film landed in a controversy earlier as well, when filmmaker-actor duo Dinesh Gautam and Imran Zahid claimed the storyline of the film was copied from their movie titled Marksheet.
