Yesterday two movies ‘Pink’ and ‘Raaz Reboot’ released, both of which did not have a fantastic first day at the box office. Amitabh Bachchan starrer ‘Pink’ earned Rs 4.32 crore on Friday whereas Emraan Hashmi’s ‘Raaz Reboot’ minted Rs 6.30 crore.
The numbers confirms that the popularity of the Raaz franchisee gave it an edge over the courtroom drama.
Here is what trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted about the collections:
It is worth noting that for ‘Pink’ the reviews have been remarkable but ‘Raaz Reboot’ did not get the same treatment.
Critics have heaped praises on the courtroom drama starring Big B, Tapsee Pannu and Angad Bedi for having an honest and brutal take on gender issues. ‘Pink’, few critics said, shows the mirror image of the patriarchal society. The performances of mostly all actors were lauded, though Big B and Tapsee Pannu stood out. With such astounding reviews, ‘Pink’ is expected to earn more over the weekend.
A still from 'Raaz Reboot'
On the other hand, ‘Raaz Reboot’ has been called as a horror movie filled with ridiculous scares. Though cine buffs found Emraan Hashmi as the silver lining to the movie, they were not particularly impressed by his co-stars Kirti Kharbanda and Gaurav Arora. Many also said that this Vikram Bhatt directorial is more of a comedy movie. If the movie performs in the coming weekend it will be due to the popularity of Raaz franchisee.
