Former Congress MLA Jayasudha’s husband Nitin Kapoor allegedly committed suicide by jumping off a building in Mumbai, yesterday. Nitin Kapoor was Bollywood actor Jeetendra’s cousin and a film producer.
The 58-year old actor jumped from the terrace of a six-storey building where he lived in Andheri West. The suicide took place in the afternoon. The neighbours took him to the hospital where he was declared brought dead. No suicide note was recovered from the spot.
The exact reason behind Nitin Kapoor’s extreme step is yet unknown.
A police spokesperson, DCP Ashok Dudhe says, “Kapoor was jobless for the last 18 years. His family resides in Hyderabad and he was staying in Mumbai at his sister’s house,”
It was also noted that Nitin was suffering from depression for last one and a half years and was seeking psychiatric help since February.
Nitin Kapoor got married to the South Indian actress, Jayasudha in 1985 after a two-year-long relationship. The couple always preferred to stay away from the limelight but they appeared together at many events within the industry. The couple seemed much in love and happy in their 30-year old marriage.
Nitin Kapoor is survived by his wife and two sons, Nihar and Shreayan who are presently employed in the film industry.
