Blackmail box-office collection : Irrfan Khan’s film witnesses 37 per cent growth on day 2

Blackmail depicts life of a middle-aged married-man stuck in a full day-time job and unexciting life but things turn after he finds that his wife is having an extramarital affair.

After garnering praises and accolades from the critics, the unconventional and quirky comedy Blackmail’ starring Irrfan Khan has received a thumbs up from the audience. After raking in 2.81 crores on day 1, the film witnessed 37.01% growth on day 2.Exploring the rare genre of dark comedy in Bollywood, Abhinay Deo has yet again wowed the audience with his mastery of the genre. After Delhi belly, Abhinay Deo has recreated the magic on screen with the dark comedy genre with Blackmail.

Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Instagram and said, “#Blackमेल witnessed 37.01% GROWTH on Day 2... Biz was affected, to an extent, by the commencement of #IPL2018... Will have to score on Sun... Biz has to multiply for a respectable weekend total... Fri 2.81 cr, Sat 3.85 cr. Total: ₹ 6.66 cr. India biz”.

The movie, which released Friday in 1550 screens across India and 311 screen overseas, is expected to earn upto Rs 4 crore on the opening day at the box office owing to a decent buzz around it. A bit of sympathy factor might also help boost the movie's box office collection as the actor will be away from the silver screen for a while now.

According to the trade analyst Girish Johar, Blackmail started off on a slow note with only 15 percent occupancy in early morning shows. However, he felt that the movie might pick up pace over the weekend considering the wide release.

Directed by Abhinay Deo, Blackmail also features Kirti Kulhari, Divya Dutta, Arunoday Singh, Omi Vaidya, Anuja Sathe, Pradhuman Singh Mall and Gajraj Rao. The black comedy-drama film released on April 6.
