2018 has so far proved to be a content-rich year. From PadMan to Mukkabaaz and Raid, makers have experimented with the content and it seems that their solo aim to serve something fresh to the audience. The first half of Bollywood year has been quite an exciting one and as per reports, it has done a business of over Rs 2,210 crore. The second half of 2018 has already begun and we just can't help but keep our fingers crossed to see what will be served on our platter.

The second half promises to be starry as two of our Khans- Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan will be back after a year. While Aamir's Thugs of Hindostan is set to release on Diwali, Shah Rukh will charm you with Zero in Christmas. Leaving that aside, let's talk about big releases that are all set to hit theaters this month. From Akshay Kumar starrer Gold to Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starring Stree, have a look at top films releasing in August.

 

Gold

Akshay Kumar starrer Gold is a historical sports drama featuring Mouni Roy, Vineet Kumar Singh, Amit Sadh, Kunal Kapoor among others. Directed by Reema Kagti, Gold has been bankrolled by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar. Makers attempt to bask in the fervour of patriotism by releasing the movie on August 15. The background score, which earned a lot of praise is by Sachin-Jigar. Khiladi Kumar plays the role of Tapan Das, an assistant manager of a pre-independence hockey team, who is adamant to win Olympics Gold for free India. Mouni Roy, who is making Bollywood debut with Gold is playing Akshay's wife in the movie.

 

Satyameva  Jayate

Satyameva Jayate, which means Truth Alone Triumphs is a vigilante action thriller movie featuring John Abraham and Manoj Bajpayee in lead roles. Directed by Milap Milan Zaveri, the tagline of the movie reads: ''Beimaan Pitega, Corruption Mitega''. It is about a character Virendra Kumar Singh, who single-handedly fights against corruption and social injustice. Makers have also recreated the 90s hit song Dilbar in the voice of Neha Kakkar. Paniyon Sa, Tajdar-E-Haram and Tere Jaisa are other tracks of the film. Satyameva Jayate will clash with Gold at the box-office as it will release on August 15.

 

Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi

A sequel to 2016 film Happy Bhag Jayegi with the title Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi features Sonakshi Sinha, Diana Penty, Jimmy Sheirgill, Ali Fazal, Jassi Gill in lead roles. While Diana, Jimmy and Fazal were part of the first film, others are new entrants. Directed by Mudassar Aziz and produced by Aanand L. Rai and Krishika Lulla, the movie will release on 24th August. Aparshakti Khurrana and Piyush Mishra also play important roles in the flick. So far, makers have released two songs- Swag Saha Nahi Jaye and Happy Bhag Jayegi. The soundtrack has been composed by Sohail Sen.

 

Stree

Stree is a horror comedy featuring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor in lead roles along with Aparshakti Khurrana and Pankaj Tripathi. Directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna D.K. and Dinesh Vijan, the movie is based on urban legend, Nale Ba. Rajkummar is playing tailor in the film and to prepare for the role, the actor learned sewing clothes. Shraddha, on the other, is playing the role of a mysterious woman. Shooting of the flick started in Chanderi, Madhya Pradesh and then took place in Bhopal. Music has been composed by Sachin-Jigar. So far, makers have released two tracks- Kamariya and Milegi Milegi. Stree will release on August 31.

 

Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se

Yamla Pagla Deewana is the third instalment of the series. Starring Dharmendra, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol in lead roles along with Kriti Kharbanda, it is an action comedy. Directed by Navaniat Singh and produced by Kamayani Punia Sharma and Aarushi Malhotra, screenplay and story is by Dheeraj Rattan. Makers dropped the trailer recently and it is not a continuation of its last part. There are cameos by Salman Khan, Sonakshi Sinha, Shatrughan Sinha and Rekha. There is also a rehash version of 'Rafta Rafta Dekho Aankh Meri Ladi Hai'. The movie is slated to release on 31st August.
