Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana has come out in support of Pakistani actors, saying it is the terrorists who deserve to be targeted instead of the artists.
His statement came days after the Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association (IMPAA) banned Pakistani actors in wake of the militant attack in Uri that killed 19 Indian soldiers.
Ayushmann expressed his opinion against the ban and stated, “I think of course we should attack the terrorists for sure but we should not attack the artists, that's about it”.
Interestingly, he is not the first one to come out in support of Pakistani actors. Just a couple of days ago, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan too had voiced his opinion against the ban imposed by IMPAA saying that the Pakistani artists are not terrorists.
Apparently, Salman’s statement hasn’t gone down well with Maharashtra Navnirman Chitrapat Karmachari Sena (MNS), who has threatened to impose a ban on Khan’s movies as well.
For the uninitiated, MNS has demanded a ban on Pakistani artists post the Uri attack. It had also threatened filmmaker Karan Johar and superstar Shah Rukh Khan to stall the release of their movies ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ and ‘Raess’, since the movie features Pakistani artists Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan respectively.
Several b-town celebs came out in support of Pakistani artists including KJo, Anurag Kashyap, Varun Dhawan, Shyam Benegal etc, and stated that banning artists isn’t a solution to terrorism.
