New Delhi: Dilwale actress Kriti Sanon might lose director Sidharth Anand’s upcoming movie to star kid Athiya Shetty, who is just one film old in the industry.
The movie tentatively titled ‘Badlaa’ stars Sanjay Dutt in lead role. The makers are currently in search of a female lead.
There is no romantic pairing in the movie but it revolves around a father-daughter relationship. The role is of a boxer who is eloped and doesn’t share a cordial relationship with his father.
As per sources, the makers want a slim, athletic and tall girl for the role, who will be doing a lot of action sequences in the movie. Both Athiya and Kriti fit the bill which created confusion among director and producers.
OMG! Arjun Kapoor-Athiya Shetty spotted kissing at a nightclub in Mumbai!
Siddharth, reportedly, wanted to cast Kriti Sanon for the role but Sanjay Dutt is adamant on having Athiya Shetty on-board.
Why? Well Sanjay and Suniel Shetty share a good bond and it’s obvious for ‘Vaastav’ actor to coin Athiya’s name.
A source reveals, "Dutt and Athiya’s dad Suneil are very close, and it is but natural that Sanju would want her to play the female protagonist. She is Dutt’s recommendation. Both the actresses fit the bill for this hardcore action film, but Sanju is very keen to have Athiya on board, as is she."
Interestingly, Athiya was training for MMA (Martial Arts) recently. And if we are reading the signs right than it might be for this role only.
Siddharth was planning to fly to Budapest where Kriti is shooting for Raabta but he dropped his plans later.
Well! Kriti’s loss is Athiya’s gain! Such are the benefits of being a star kid.
