Commenting on censor board's decision of 48 cuts in Babumoshai Bandookbaaz, Anupam Kher said that CBFC need to relook at themselves. Reacting on CBFC suggestion, Anupam said “I don’t think its personality oriented. I don’t think Pahlaj Nihalani has even seen the movie (Babumoshai Bandookbaaz). Having said that, censor board needs to relook at themselves. They are coming across to be the people who know how to stop a film, rather than how to facilitate a film. There should be some rules and regulations but censor board should not turn villain for a film,” he said.
Anupam further said, “They should give respect to the filmmakers. I heard from someone, they make directors stand inside the office.”
Babumoshai Bandookbaaz actress Bidita Bag also reacted on CBFC suggestion of 48 cuts in the film and said, ‘’Film-making is a very serious business because in each film there are about 80 to 100 people involved and they run their houses through it. So, if we start making films like 'Jai Santoshi Maa', then there will be no entertainment factor left in the film, and how many people will go to watch the film."
Meanwhile actor Nawazuddin said, "When conditions (referring to CBFC rules) are such that you are scared to even improvise and say something wrong, that's a scary situation to be in."
