Releasing in the first half of 2018, the film not just garnered critical acclaim but ruled the box office charts as well. On one hand, alia Bhatt was showered with praises from all quarters for her phenomenal performance, Raazi also gave a new identity to Vicky Kaushal and his brilliant talent. Fans are stills not over the touching story of Sehmat in the path-breaking film and now the buzz has it that it will have a sequel as well.
Yes, it’s time to rejoice for all the Raazi fans as the film might get a sequel very soon, confirms author Harinder Sikka who wrote the novel ‘Calling Sehmat’ on which Raazi was adapted. Harinder Sikka revealed to Mid-Day that he is working on the sequel of his novel Calling Sehmat which will be known as ‘Remembering Sehmat’. Revealing details about the same, Harinder says that the young Kashmiri girl's life, who was sent as a spy to Pakistan in 1971, has enough fodder for a sequel. He reveals, "After I wrote Calling Sehmat in 2008, I spent another 10 years with her, on and off, depending on the little time she gave me. [The book will focus on] how she went into depression after the mission but fought her way out of it."
He added, "It will reflect her personal journey since her return from Pakistan.The mysteries around her will be decoded in Remembering Sehmat." The report also stated that the author, Harinder Sikka, has discussed the sequel with Alia Bhatt. Isn’t it amazing?
Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Raazi hit the screens n 11 May 2018 and went on to become one of the biggest films of 2018. The film managed to cross 200 crore mark on the box office, both domestic and international and ruled everyone’s playlist with its’ feet tapping songs. Even today, Raazi is considered one of the best films of Indian cinema.
