New Delhi: Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar is walking over the moon these days. The year 2016 is turning out to be quite lucky for the actor as everything he is touching is turning out to be gold.
Two of ‘Khiladi’ Kumar’s movies released this year– ‘Airlift’ and ‘Housefull 3’ – and both of them have done wonders at the box office.
While ‘Airlift’ earned Rs. 127 crores, ‘Housefull 3’ has also entered the 100 crore club today.
Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Housefull3 crosses ₹ 100 cr in morning/noon shows today [Wednesday]. India biz... #HF3”.
Earlier, he had also tweeted, “#Housefull3 [Week 2] Fri 3.50 cr, Sat 5.05 cr, Sun 6.65 cr, Mon 2.30 cr, Tue 2.05 cr. Total: ₹ 99.65 cr. India biz... #HF3”
‘Housefull 3’ has surpassed the lifetime collection of Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Fan’, which had earned Rs. 84.17 crore.
Interestingly, this year only two movies have crossed the 100 crore mark at box office and both are Akshay Kumar starrer.
Though, several movies have won appreciation from the audience for example, ‘Kapoor & Sons’ (Rs 73.03 core), Baaghi (Rs 76 crore), Neerja (Rs 75.61 crore), Ki And Ka (Rs 51.62 crore), Wazir (Rs 42.00 crore), Ghayal Once Again (Rs 40 crore), Mastizaade (Rs 38crore) and Jai Gangaajal (Rs 38 crore). But they failed to leave a mark at the box office and especially enter the coveted Rs 100 cr club.
Now, the ‘Baby’ actor is gearing up for his third release of the year – ‘Rustom’ opposite Ileana D’Cruz. Only time will tell if Akshay Kumar will be able to create a hattrick at the box office.
