New Delhi: Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has some really amazing things to say about Kapoor scion Ranbir Kapoor. Courtsey filmmaker Karan Johar, Aishwarya and Ranbir will be seen romancing each other in ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’. While we know that with ADHM, Ash and Ranbir will be sharing screen space for the first time, they happen to have a past of working in close proximity of each other on a film’s set.
During her interview to a leading daily, Aishwarya revealed that she felt nostalgic being around Ranbir on sets of ADHM. Ranbir had assisted his father Rishi Kapoor in the movie ‘Aa Ab Laut Chalein’ which released in 1999. The movie featured Akshay Khanna and Ash in lead roles.
So, when Aishwarya saw Ranbir on a movie set again, she couldn’t stop smiling. Speaking about her experience, Ash said,
“I met Ranbir on the sets after many years. He is adorable. He was assisting Chintu uncle on AALC. Now we are working together. We got along like a house on fire. He has an amazing sense of humour.”
In the same interview, Aishwarya also revealed that she came very close to working with Karan Johar but every time things did not fall into place. She said that Karan approached her for ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ in 1998 but she refused the role.

“I couldn’t do the movie because I was shooting for Aa Ab Laut Chalen (AALC; 1999). I was on a 40-day schedule in the US. It was Chintu uncle’s (Rishi Kapoor; actor) first film as a director. I’m a fan of his and I looked up to him. I just couldn’t mess things up with him,” she said.
Karan tried bringing Aishwarya on board for ‘Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham’ in 2003. Ash went on,
“He narrated the story and told me about the character, but we didn’t end up working together. We almost worked on another movie, but that too didn’t take off. He narrates stories of most of his films to me… he is family. After hearing this script, both of us smiled. It was special,” says the actor.
Happy that ADHM is finally happening, Aishwarya said,
“Karan often told me, ‘You are meant to be in my film.’ It didn’t happen all these years. Finally, we are working together.”
