Just two weeks ago, the kidnapping and molestation incident of a popular Malyalam actress shocked the entire nation and, now yesteryear actress Sonu Walia has lodged a sexual harassment complaint with the Mumbai Police.
The actress filed an FIR stating that she has been receiving obscene phone calls and vulgar videos on her phone.
She filed the complaint against unknown persons under sections 354 of IPC and other sections of the IT act at Mumbai’s Bangur Nagar police station.
The 53-year-old actress, who lives in Malad, approached the police on Friday. She accused the unknown person of making several lewd phone calls and sending dirty videos, a leading daily quoted the police as saying.
Sonu, who won the Miss India title in 1985, informed the police that the accused had been harassing for the past one week.
She also said that she had warned the caller on the phone but he increased the frequency of obscene calls.
She approached the police when she could not take the harassment anymore. She was getting the calls from various numbers.
Speaking to media, inspector Shirish Gaikwad said the numbers are no longer in operation.
Sonu Walia is known for her role in “Khoon Bhari Maang”, which also starred Rekha and Kabir Bedi. She was also seen in Hema Malini’s “Dil
Aashna Hai “ which was among Shah Rukh Khan’s first few films.
In 2000, she married a US-based hotelier Surya Pratap Singh. He died in 2010 after suffering from a kidney ailment.
