New Delhi: Superstar Aamir Khan during a press conference on Thursday evening in Lel village of Ludhiana, said that it is shameful on the part of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) if a censor copy of ‘Udta Punjab’ has been leaked.

With this statement, Aamir joined the bandwagon of cine stars who have come out in support of ‘Udta Punjab’, after the movie was leaked online just two days before its release on June 17. The multi starrer movie helmed by Abhishek Choubey, won the battle against CBFC earlier this week to ensure it releases on the scheduled date.

However, the online leak has come as a major blow to the filmmakers.

Interestingly, the copy of ‘Udta Punjab’ which is doing the rounds of media is the censor copy and even includes the scene of actor Shahid Kapoor’s character Tommy Singh peeing in a concert. This particular scene was cut by the Bombay High Court in their judgement.

Commenting on the whole matter, Aamir asked media persons if they are sure that the copy leaked is a censor board one. When media informed him that the footage has ‘Censor Body’ watermarked on it, Aamir said,

“If it is a censored copy that has leaked, it's a big shame for CBFC.”

He also added that this will reflect poorly on the Censor Board.

But, Aamir was quick enough to add,

“But if it’s not censored copy then piracy is an issue we’ve been fighting against for very long.”

Aamir also said, “People who watch pirated versions have no idea that they are stealing something.”

He also said that he is waiting for the movie and will see it in Punjab itself.

Produced by Phantom films and Balaji Telefilms, ‘Udta Punjab’ also starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Dilijit Dosanjh and Alia Bhatt touches the hard hitting topic of substance abuse in Punjab.
