New Delhi: Superstars Salman Khan and Aamir Khan came together for Raj Kumar Santoshi’s ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ and made viewers laugh till they cried. The 1994 movie, which was declared a flop upon its release, went on to become one of most loved comedy films of Bollywood.
For a while now, reports about a remake of the movie have surfaced on the Internet, but there has been no confirmation.
But, after many speculations, the movie is being remade. Reports have it that Vinay Sinha’s (who was the financer of the original) daughter Preeti Sinha, has sold the rights of the movie to Phantom films.
However, there is a catch. None of the stars of the original will be a part of the film, said media reports.
So, if you are expecting to see Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Shakti Kapoor in their wittiest best, you will be disheartened.
It is rumoured that the movie will roll towards the year-end with a fresh cast and an in-house director. Vikas Bahl and Vikramaditya Motwane are rumoured to be in talks to helm the project.
A source close to the development told a leading daily,
“The script is locked. It has been developed by Vivek Soni and Hardik Mehta, who won a National Award this year for his non-feature film on kite flying in Ahmedabad, Amdavad Ma Famous, under the creative supervision of Vikas. It's a super script and promises loads of fun.”
‘Andaz Apna Apna’ is one of the movies that have shaped the memories of 90’s kids. So, when netizens learnt about the remake and that the star cast of the movie will be changed, they were not happy.
