Filmfare Awards 2018’s nominations were announced on Thursday and it came as a big disappointment for many cinema lovers as talented actor Rajkummar Rao has not been nominated for the Best Actor category. This has become the topic of discussion on social media. Not only this, Newton, which was India’s official entry to Oscars 2018, is not present in the Best Film category. This indeed is disappointing as the jury has overlooked deserving film and actor.

Rajkummar, who delivered powerful performances in films like Trapped, Newton and Bareilly Ki Barfi, has been nominated for Best Actor In A Supporting Role for Ayushmann Khurrana and Kriti Sanon starrer. Twitterati think that it is just a consolation prize for the star.

Soon after the nominations were announced, people started criticising Filmfare for not including the name of deserving Rajkummar in the Best Actor category. This is not the first time that this has happened as last year, Akshay Kumar, who gave series of hit films, was not nominated for Best actor which irked Twitter.

This time, Irrfan Khan, Varun Dhawan, Ayushmann Khurrana, Hrithik Roshan, Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar have been nominated for Best Actor. However, it is sad to see that Newton which received praises and love not only from critics but also from audience is nowhere.
