New Delhi: Actress Pratyusha Banerjee’s alleged suicide stunned everyone. She had in little time become one of the small screen’s most loved heroines. Whichever show she participated in, she quickly became everyone’s darling.
Her untimely death has already been shrouded in mystery as many controversy theories are floating around.
Here are ten things about the high profile suicide that we know so far:
1. On Friday, April 1, Pratyusha Banerjee was found hanging from the ceiling fan of her residence in Goregaon West. Banerjee was found in the condition by her boyfriend Rahul Raj Singh, police said.
2. Rahul, with the help of neighbours, rushed her to the Kokilaben Ambani Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police was informed about her death by hospital authorities and not Rahul.
3. The initial postmortem reports have stated that she died of asphyxia and there were two marks on her neck. Asphyxia means a condition arising when the body is deprived of oxygen, causing unconsciousness or death.
4. The police did not recover any suicide note at the spot.
5. Rahul and Pratyusha had a nasty fight on Friday after which he left home at around 12 noon. CCTV footage from the society claims that Rahul returned few hours later with a key maker.
6. During questioning by police, Rahul said, “I found Pratyusha hanging from the ceiling. I got very scared. Immediately, I called the neighbours and with their help, I took her to Kokilaben Hospital. We assumed that she was alive, but she was not. I got so scared that I did not inform the police.”
7. Pratyusha had got in touch with designer Rohit Verma and had asked him to stitch her a wedding lehenga. She had met him twice last month, on March 17 and 22. When Rohit asked her about the wedding date, she had said she would surprise everyone.
8. Pratyusha’s last WhatsApp status read, ‘Mar ke bhi munh naa tujhse modna’.
9. Neighbours in the society have said that about one and a half months ago, Rahul’s girlfriend Saloni had visited their home and created a ruckus. She had beaten Rahul and Pratyusha and had told the former that she would destroy him.
10. People in the society have said that the girl used to roam in and around the place often. She was one of the major reasons Pratyusha and Rahul fought a lot, according to the neighbours.
11. Pratyusha Banerjee’s parents landed in Mumbai earlier this morning. Her parents have blamed Rahul for the tragic demise of their daughter before the media. They have alleged that he used to torture her physically and give false promise of marrying her. They have also said that Rahul had relations with other girls. However, their statement to the police makes no such mention.
