An Opinion Poll conducted by IndiaTV-CNX has predicted a rout for the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Rajasthan. The survey further suggested that people of the state are unhappy with the work done by CM Vasundhara Raje in the last five years and are in no mood to give her another chance. However, Raje is confident of retaining power in Rajasthan.
In an exclusive interview with IndiaTV, Vasundhara Raje said she a 'super plan' ready for the state polls scheduled to be held on December 7. The Rajasthan CM appeared confident of winning the Assembly elections.
Responding to a question whether the issue of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya will help the BJP in Rajasthan, Raje said Ram Mandir shouldn't be looked at as a political issue. "It is something that the BJP had promised and the party will surely fulfill it," Raje said.
The Rajasthan CM, while raising questions over pre-poll surveys which have predicted that the BJP won't be able to retain power, said she has been touring the state and the actual on ground situation is different than what the opinion polls show.
"We are fighting the elections on the agenda of development. If our country and state lack the development then questions should be asked from people who have ruled continuously after Independence. The BJP government has tried to listen to demands of people across the state," Raje said.
On a question of Rajputs being reportedly miffed by her, Raje said,"Despite from being a rajgharana, I have always tried to take everyone together. Be it Rajputs, Jats, Meenas or Gurjars...everyone want development in their region. I will continue to work for all."
According to IndiaTV-CNX Opinion Poll, in the 200-seat Rajasthan Assembly, Congress may win 110 to 120 seats, while the BJP may win 70 to 80 seats. Mayawati's Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) may win 1 to 3 seats, while 'Others' may win 7 to 9 seats.
In the last assembly polls in Rajasthan in 2013, BJP had won 163, Congress had won 21, BSP had won 3 and Others had won 13 seats. The results for Rajasthan Assembly polls will be announced on December 11.
In the pre-poll survey, 31.75 per cent respondents said they wanted Congress leader Sachin Pilot as CM, while 31 per cent favoured incumbent Vasundhara Raje as CM. Over 15 per cent said they preferred Congress leader Ashok Gehlot as CM.
