In his last rally before Assembly election date in Rajasthan was announced, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday came down hard at the Congress and appealed the people to keep the party away from power.

Address a public gathering in Ajmer, PM Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress and accused it of practising vote bank politics. He said the main opposition party's only motive is to be in power and for that it doesn't even hesitate in dividing people.

Underlining that vote bank politics is not limited to elections now, PM Modi said political parties which do vote bank politics divide the bureaucracy when they are in power which affects the governance badly.

"They allocate the budget as per vote bank politics and therefore overall development does not happen," he said at the public gathering which marked the end of Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje's state-wide political 'yatra'.

"With great difficulty, the country has picked the right direction now after 60 years. Don't give them another chance again," PM Modi said.

Labelling the Congress as a party doing 'low-level' politics, PM Modi said Congress leaders were questioning the surgical strikes by the Army across the Line of Control two years ago and 'insulting' soldiers.

"They should be ashamed of indulging in such politics. With great difficulty, the country has picked the right direction now after 60 years. Don’t give them another chance again," PM Modi said at the rally which ended shortly before the Election Commission announced Assembly election date for Rajasthan.

Rajasthan will vote in a single phase on December 7 and results will be announced on December 11.
