Ashok Gehlot will be the new Chief Minister of Rajasthan. The announcement in this reagard was made on Friday during a press conference held at the AICC headquarters in Delhi.
Gehlot, a veteran Congress politician, was born on 3rd May 1951 in Mahamandir, Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
Ashok Gehlot has been the chief minister of Rajasthan for two terms, from 1998 to 2003 and again from 2008 to 2013. But he faced serious opposition in the race to the CM’s post in 1998 and 2008 as well, with Jat leaders in the Congress opposing him. He has also served as Union Minister many times in the past.

He is married to Sunita Gehlot and has a son and a daughter. He completed his graduation in Science and Law, and Masters in Economics. Gehlot was appointed as the first state president of NSUI Rajasthan by Indira Gandhi.
Currently he is Congress party's national general secretary and in-charge of organizations and training. He represents Sardarpura constituency of Jodhpur as Member of Legislative Assembly of Rajasthan. Gehlot contested 2018 Rajasthan Assembly election against Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Shambhu Singh.
Gehlot has also served as Union Minister of State for Tourism and Civil Aviation from September 1982 to February 1984. Gehlot is one of the few leaders who have worked under three PMs - Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and PV Narasimha Rao.
