Delhi Chief MInister Arvind Kejriwal congratulated Delhiites and said he's thankful to them for 'choosing their son, brother' to run Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

Speaking further, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said, "I congratulate the people of Delhi for this win and thank them for bringing change."

"I want the cooperation of the BJP & Congress to work for Delhi now. I appeal to the Centre &ask for PM's blessings to make Delhi better. We have to make MCD corruption-free. Today, the people of Delhi have given a message to the entire nation," Kejriwal added.

Delhi CM and AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann addressed the party workers as the party comfortably crosses the majority mark to win the MCD elections 2022.

So far, AAP has won 134 seats, BJP bagged 104, Congress grabs 9 while others have got 3 seats.

"We thank the people of Delhi for giving the mandate to AAP. This is not just a win but a big responsibility to make Delhi cleaner and better," Delhi Deputy CM & AAP leader Manish Sisodia said.

Addressing party workers after AAP's victory in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections 2022, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann took a jibe at BJP saying if exit polls proved inaccurate in the MCD polls, then they could be wrong as well tomorrow when Gujarat, Himachal results will be declared.

Addressing party workers, AAP's Sanjay Singh hit out at the BJP after his party registered victory in the MCD elections 2022 saying its an answer to the saffron party which used to say that they (AAP) only wins against Congress.  

Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia on Wednesday thanked the people of Delhi for voting his party to victory in the MCD polls and said it was their mandate that helped it defeat the "world's biggest and most negative party". While the AAP has crossed the majority mark of 126, the BJP has won 99, according to the latest State Election Commission figures. The Congress was lagging far behind, winning just seven seats.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is inching closer to the majority mark of 126 in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections as it emerged victorious in 106 wards, while has BJP bagged 84 wards as counting continues. The Congress was a distant third after winning five wards while Independent candidate Shakila won in Seelampur.

The MCD has 250 wards and the simple majority mark is 126.

Congress' Shagufta Chaudhary won in Chauhan Banger, while AAP's transgender candidate Bobi won from Sultanpuri-A defeating her Congress' Varuna Dhaka by over 6,700 votes.

The counting of votes polled in the December 4 elections started at 8 am.

Sultana Abad of the AAP won the Jama Masjid ward, while party candidate Sarika Chaudhary defeated Congress' Farhad Suri by a margin of 244 votes in Daryaganj.

BJP's Alka Raghav emerged victorious in Laxmi Nagar by a margin of 3,819 votes. The party's Rohini D candidate Smita also registered a win.

AAP's Ankush Narang has won from Ranjeet Nagar.

BJP contested well on issues and exposed lies-corruption of AAP. They had said BJP will get 20 seats and AAP will get 230. It's a neck-to-neck fight. Polls results could be anything. Final results yet to come but BJP hopeful of majority says Delhi BJP chief.

Adequate security personnel are also deployed to prevent clashes between activists of different parties. Elections to the 250-ward Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) were held on December 4.

The Aam Aadmi Party had alleged that 668 voters were not allowed to cast their vote at a polling booth in Karol Bagh in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections as their names were not on the electoral list. The party's MLA from Karol Bagh, Vishesh Ravi, demanded re-election at the booth and strict action against the officials for the "mess".

"According to the electoral roll and the Nagar Nigam Chunav app, a total of 668 voters from SP Mukherjee Market, Faiz Road were supposed to cast their vote in booth no.
118, Ward-82, AC-23 at the polling station - Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya Plot No.6 Jhandewalan. But from the morning the voters were made to run from pillar to post as this booth didn't have the list of voters.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal congratulated the people of Delhi after exit polls showed a clean sweep by the AAP in the municipal elections and also said the prediction for the party in Gujarat is a "positive sign".

But the Aam Aadmi Party will wait for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) election results to be declared before thanking the people of the national capital, he said.

Three exit polls on Monday predicted a clear win for the AAP in the MCD polls, with the BJP emerging a distant second.

Ahead of the counting of votes for the MCD polls, the BJP exuded hope that the tide will turn in its favour even as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) claimed a "landslide" victory as predicted by exit polls. The exit polls on Monday showed that the AAP was going to sweep the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) polls by winning more than 150 of the 250 municipal wards with the BJP emerging a distant second. The results will be announced after counting of polled votes on all the 250 municipal wards on Wednesday. Voting for MCD elections was held on Sunday. The AAP leaders, who are in an upbeat mood after positive predictions, also claimed that the party will do better than exit poll trends.

"We are expecting better results than what the exit polls predicted. These exit polls also show that people have rejected all the allegations leveled by the BJP (against AAP) and have voted for good work," Durgesh Pathak, AAP's MCD poll in-charge said.

This year, the highest polling percentage (65.72) has been recorded in ward no. 5 (Bakhtawarpur), while the lowest (33.74 per cent) was registered in ward no. 145 (Andrews Ganj). Barring a few stray incidents of MCC (model code of conduct) violations and "a couple of other scattered incidents of impersonation", the polling remained peaceful and no untoward incident of any kind was reported from anywhere, the SEC said in a statement on Sunday night.

Both AAP and the BJP have exuded confidence that they will emerge victorious in the polls while the Congress is seeking to regain lost turf.

The counting centres are located in areas, including, Shastri Park, Yamuna Vihar, Mayur Vihar, Nand Nagari, Dwarka, Okhla, Mangolpuri, Pitampura, Alipur and Model Town.

Tight security arrangements have been made at all the counting centres with with 20 companies of Central Armed Police Forces and more than 10,000 police personnel deployed for the day at the centres, police officials said.
