Congress high profile candidate Navjot Singh Sidhu has lost from Amritsar East seat to AAP's Jeevan Jyot Kaur. Bikram Singh Majithia of Akali Dal has scored the third position. While Sidhu got 23488 votes, Kaur bagged 28289 and Majithia 18799.

In 2017 too, Navjot Singh Sidhu had won the seat by defeating Rajesh Kumar Honey from Bharatiya Janata Party with a margin of 42809 votes. In 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Indian National Congress candidate Gurjeet Singh Aujla won from Amritsar Lok Sabha (MP) Seat with the margin of 99626 votes by defeating Hardeep Singh Puri from Bharatiya Janata Party.
