Rajasthan by-election: 68.74 per cent voter turnout till 3 pm

A voter turnout of 68.74 per cent was registered till 3 pm on Monday in Rajasthan's Ramgarh Assembly constituency.

A voter turnout of 68.74 per cent was registered till 3 pm on Monday in Rajasthan's Ramgarh Assembly constituency.

An Election Commission official said that the voting percentage till 3 pm was 68.73, adding that voting began at 8 am.

There are 278 polling booths set up for the election in Ramgarh and voting was going on smoothly. 

More than 2,500 policemen have been deployed on the election duty along with nine magistrates monitoring the election in the constituency. 

In booth number 136, two voters aged over 100 years voted. They were identified as Khuda Baksha (106) and Harbai (101), resident of village Mast Bad, an official said.

Also, there were seven 90+ voters in booths 131, 132, 133 and 134, the official added.

The election was scheduled on December 7 along with the rest of Rajasthan Assembly seats but was postponed after Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate Laxman Singh died due to cardiac arrest.
