As the second phase polling in West Bengal including Nandigram concluded on Thursday, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) said that Mamata Banerjee (Didi) is going to win the contest. Mamata Banerjee was pitted against former close aide and now BJP candidate Suvendu Adhikari.

"Didi is winning Nandigram. The question of her fighting from another seat doesn't arise. @narendramodi Ji, retract from your efforts to mislead people before they see your lies with the end of nomination in West Bengal. Look for a safer seat in 2024, as you will be challenged in Varanasi," a tweet read at All India Trinamool Congress' official Twitter handle.

Addressing a presser, TMC leader Derek O'Brien said, "there have been some specific incidents that CM referred to, in her statement today about booths. We'll consider taking the next step because we want to do this not for just winning Nandigram or West Bengal but we need to do it for keeping democracy in place."

"We know we'll win both (Nandigram & West Bengal). Even though we may win, we may still consider going to the Election Commission. We are considering it for a few booths," he added.

Earlier in the day, as soon as polling ended in Nandigram, TMC leader Yashwant Sinha had also said, "Mamata Banerjee is winning with a huge margin in Nandigram and the opposition candidate is nowhere near her."

"As per our information, Mamata Banerjee is winning with a huge margin (in Nandigram) and the opposition candidate is nowhere near her," Former Union Minister & TMC leader Yashwant Sinha said.

Prior to this, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said, "Whatever you (Election Commission) try, BJP will not win. In Nandigram, 90% of the votes will to TMC."

However, speaking after the second phase polling concluded, Suvendu Adhikari said, "90% of the votes have gone to BJP (in Nandigram)."
