The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has opened its account by winning a seat in the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil elections.
In the LAHDC polls, the BJP won Zanskar seat while the National Conference (NC) bagged 10 seats. The Congress and PDP won eight and two seats respectively. Five seats were won by independents.
More than 70 per cent electorate turned out to exercise their franchise in the fourth election to 30-seat Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Kargil on August 27. Elections were held on 26 seats and the other four seats will be filled through nominations.
In the 2013 elections, the Congress had won 10 seats, while the National Conference secured eight seats.
