A recent video has surfaced on internet in which a senior Congress leader from this state is caught saying that for winning these polls, they're ready to take support from goons & those who don't obey law. Such a thing is absolutely unacceptable: PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday attacked the Congress party in Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh, and said that the people are “tired” of grand old party’s “false promises”.
“Chhindwara is tired of Congress' false promises. They have faith in BJP,” he said at a rally. The state is all set to go for polls on November 28. Counting of votes will take place on December 11.
Here are important excerpts from PM Modi's speech:
- Congress praises the cow in its MP polls manifesto, but slaughters a calf on the streets of Kerala and eats beef: PM
- When Rajiv Gandhi ji was PM, he said if govt released one rupee, only 15 paise could reach people. Why was it so? Who looted those 85 paise? When we came to power, through Aadhaar, we put a check on corruption & saved nearly Rs. 90,000 crore: PM Modi
- Making false promises is the very nature of Congress. They ruled for four generations. I challenge them to present a report card what they did in all these years: PM
- A recent video has surfaced on internet in which a senior Congress leader from this state is caught saying that for winning these polls, they're ready to take support from goons&those who don't obey law. Such a thing is absolutely unacceptable: PM Modi
- The Congress not only backstabs the people of the country, but also its own party leaders: PM
- I am confident that Chhindwara will create history this time: PM
- If the Congress is planning to bring goons into power through elections, the people of the state should make their choice straight and eliminate Congress: PM
- Congress has been misleading the people since Independence: PM
- If you look at the workings and ideologies of the Congress party, you will see how it has been lying and misleading the people: PM
- I have had chances to visit some districts of the state during these elections and saw the view of the election campaigns: PM
After his rally in Chhindwara, in Indore, in another rally, PM Modi continued his attack on the Congress party.
"These elections are not about who would win or who won't win. But these elections are about rejecting the negative forces who have always focused on the 'divide and rule' approach," PM Modi said and added, "One of the senior Congress leaders is not being allowed to campaign during these elections. The reason is that Congress fears that if he campaigns, the party will lose as people will recall what the fate of Madhya Pradesh was during the time they were in power."
Earlier in the day, in Chhattisgarh, accusing the Congress party of hindering the state's development and defrauding India, PM on Sunday urged people to vote the the BJP to power for a fourth straight term in the state.
Addressing an election rally on the last day of campaigning for the second phase of Assembly polls, Modi attacked the Congress for "lying, misleading and defrauding" the country for 50 years and "destroying" four generations of people through their misrule.
In his nearly 45-minute speech, Modi dedicated most of his time attacking the Congress and the Nehru-Gandhi family and elaborated how his government, since 2014, has ushered in all-round development across the country.
Ridiculing the erstwhile Manmohan Singh-led UPA regime as a "remote controlled government", Modi said Raman Singh's BJP government, ruling the state since 2003, could do real work only after the BJP took power at the Centre in 2014.
"The first 10 years of Raman Singh government were spent fighting the negative forces. The remote-controlled government in Delhi did not allow Raman Singh to work for his state. It was only after 2014 that he could work to bring in development in the state."
Comparing Chhattisgarh to an 18-year-old adult, Modi said the Assembly elections were no ordinary polls.
"Do you want to give an opportunity to people who ruined the lives of earlier generations of the state?" asked Modi, warning the people against voting for the Congress. The BJP, he said, was the answer for Chhattisgarh's progress.
Referring to Congress President Rahul Gandhi's pledge to waive farm loans if his party came to power in the state, Modi said the Congress' days of getting votes by "lying and misleading people" were over.
