An incident of violence reported in West Bengal’s Raiganj during the second phase of polling for Lok Sabha elections 2019, on Thursday.
A small group of mob pelted stones on cops guarding a polling booth. The police retaliated and resorted to lathi-charge. To disperse the mob, cops also used tear gas.
Voting for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections 2019 began on Thursday morning at 7 am.
The general election is scheduled to be held in seven phases from 11 April to 19 May 2019 to constitute the 17th Lok Sabha. The counting of votes will be conducted on 23 May, and on the same day the results will be declared.
Legislative Assembly elections in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim will be held simultaneously with the general election.
