Congress President Rahul Gandhi is expected to reach Wayanad on Thursday to file his nomination for the Lok Sabha elections, Congress General Secretary and former Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said on Monday.
Chandy told IANS that Gandhi was expected to arrive in Kozhikode late on Wednesday and travel to Wayanad the next day.
"If by chance he does not arrive on Wednesday, he will arrive on early Thursday and proceed to Wayanad. Ahead of submitting his nomination, he will conduct a road show," said Chandy, adding that he would be present with Gandhi.
Chandy said the "entire election profile in south India has changed drastically" because of Gandhi's candidature.
"Gandhi coming to Wayanad gives a loud and clear message that the Congress is one party which sees the entire country as one. His candidature is going to give a huge boost to the fortunes of the Congress in Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu," he added.
Wayanad district shares borders with both Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
