Lok Sabha Election 2019: Kerala CEO directs officials to verify webcams at 43 polling booths in Kasargode

The Lok Sabha polls are just a few days away and the parties are leaving no stone unturned to garner as much as attention and affection from the crowds as possible. To this end, PM Modi will address three election rallies in UP and MP today, while BJP President Amit Shah is also slated to hold public meetings in Punjab and Haryana.

India is awaiting a new government and in the run up to the Lok Sabha polls 2019, campaigners and warriors belonging to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rahul Gandhi's Congress have got battle-ready.

Keeping up with this, PM Narendra Modi will address three election rallies in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. 

BJP President Amit Shah is also slated to address public meetings in Punjab and Haryana.

    BJP workers ask for votes in the name of Modi: Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel

    Talking to media, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel today said the workers of the Bharatiya Janata Party do not ask for votes in the name of their candidates but in the name of Narendra Modi

    "BJP workers don't ask for votes in the name of their candidates but in the name of Narendra Modi. The prime minister himself doesn't ask for votes in his own name, he asks for votes in the name of Armed Force's valour," the chief minister said. 

    "Defence officers direct not to ask for votes in their name. EC also says not to use Armed forces for this purpose. But they're violating Model Code of Conduct repeatedly. This shows BJP has nothing to say and they're contesting elections in the name of pseudo-nationalism," Bhupesh Baghel said.

    Kerala CEO in all-out war against bogus voting

    In a move to check bogus voting, Kerala's Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Teeka Ram Meena on Sunday directed his officials to verify the webcams in 43 polling booths in the Kasargode Lok Sabha constituency, even as the ruling CPI-M has declared war on the CEO.

    On Sunday morning, team of polling officials began examining entire visuals of the voting that took place at 43 polling booths in the Kasargode Lok Sabha constituency earlier identified as problematic. There are a total of 965 booths in the constituency.

    In the past one week, Meena has been wielding the stick on bogus voting which has irked the ruling CPI-M. The party, on Friday, decided to seek the advice of its national leadership on what legal steps could be taken to rein in Meena.

    Meena however is in no mood to relent and told the media that he will go to any extent to defend his actions.

    Extremist forces in Kashmir cannot demoralise BJP workers with violence: Shah

    BJP President Amit Shah Sunday condoled the killing of party leader Ghulam Mohammed Mir and said extremist forces in Kashmir cannot demoralise its workers with violence. 

    Militants shot dead BJP's district vice-president Gul Mohammed Mir in his house in Anantnag district on Saturday night.

    In a tweet, Shah said, "I am saddened by killing of Ghulam Mohammed Mir, BJP leader from Anantnag. His contribution in strengthening the BJP in the valley was immense".

    "Extremist forces in the valley can't demoralise BJP karyakartas with violence.My condolences with the bereaved family," Shah tweeted.

    Talking to reporters, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav today said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's language has changed because BJP is lagging behind in previous phases of elections. 

    "PM's language has changed because BJP is lagging behind in previous phases of elections. BJP can see no other way. They're not talking about development, farmers' income. PM just wants to mislead people. SP-BSP-RLD will decide who will form the government and who will be the PM," Akhilesh Yadav said. 

    "He (PM Modi) is a 180 degree PM, he does just the opposite of whatever he says. He is the PM of only 1% of the population. So he has this issue that how those in the favour of social justice are taking the nation towards a change," the SP chief added.
