It is a rare sight to see members of a family joining two different political parties, more so when it happens just ahead of the biggest democratic exercise - India's Lok Sabha Election 2019. Barely a month after Cricketer Ravindra Jadeja's wife joined the Bharatiya Janata Party, his father and sister have joined the Congress in Gujarat. Jadeja's father Anirudhsinh and sister Nainaba joined the Congress at an election rally in Kalavad city of Jamnagar district on Sunday in the presence of party leader and Patidar quota spearhead Hardik Patel. The Congress candidate for Jamnagar Lok Sabha seat, Mulu Kandoriya, was also present.
The development sprung as a surprise as the Chennai Super Kings all-rounder's wife Rivaba had joined the Bharaatiya Janata Party just a month back. She joined the saffron party in the presence of sitting MP Poonamben Maadam.
It was last year when Rivaba was appointed as the head of Karni Sena's women wing in Gujarat. This came months after Rivaba along with her husband and cricketer Ravindra Jadeja met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence in New Delhi. Modi himself tweeted out a photo of the meeting.
"Had a wonderful interaction with noted cricket player Ravindrasinh Jadeja and his wife Rivaba," the PM had tweeted.
