BJP's poll manifesto prepared in a closed room, voice of an isolated man: Rahul Gandhi

Soon after its release on Monday, the BJP's election manifesto was dubbed as a 'Jhansa Patra' (deception document) and a "bubble of lies" by the Congress party.

Launching a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party's election manifesto, Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said the manifesto of the saffron party was prepared in a closed room while the Congress' manifesto was created through discussion.

Gandhi took to Twitter and drew sharp comparison between the poll manifestos of the ruling BJP and of the Congress.

"The Congress manifesto was created through discussion. The voice of over a million Indian people it is wise and powerful," Gandhi said in a tweet.

"The BJP Manifesto was created in a closed room. The voice of an isolated man, it is short sighted and arrogant," he added.

Soon after its release on Monday, the BJP's election manifesto was dubbed as a 'Jhansa Patra' (deception document) and a "bubble of lies" by the Congress party.

It would have been better had the saffron party issued a "maafinama" instead, the Rahul Gandhi-led party had said.

The Bharatiya Janata Party released its manifesto for the high-stakes general election starting April 11 on Monday.

Among many other promises, the manifesto assured the implementation of NRC in different parts of the country to push out infiltrators and zero tolerance to terror.

The manifesto also reiterated construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya and scrapping of Articles 370 and 35A, dealing with Jammu and Kashmir's special status.
