Nitin Gadkari is the Union minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shipping and Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation in the Government of India. He was appointed to head the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2009. A star performer in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Cabinet, he is often credited for the construction of a series of roads, highways and flyovers across Maharashtra, including the Mumbai-Pune Expressway, India's first six-lane concrete, high-speed, access-controlled toll expressway.
