Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Prakash Javadekar today said the recent GST Council’s decision to remove more than 200 items from 28 per cent tax slab was not taken under any pressure.
Speaking at India TV’s Chunav Manch, he rejected Congress party’s charge that the decision was taken due to party’s vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s continuous attack on the government.
On demonetisation, he said that the Congress spreading lies and supporting blackmoney hoarders.
He reiterated that the government is committed to bring back blackmoney and fight corruption.
To a question related to BJP’s performance in the polls, he exuded confidence that the saffron party will retain power by bagging more than 150 seats.
The western state will got to polls in two phases on December 9 and 14. Counting will take place on December 18.
The ruling BJP is confident of retaining power for 5th consecutive term. The opposition Congress, on the other hand, fancies its chances of making a comeback to the corridors of power in the aftermath of Narendra Modi moving out of the state politics after taking over as the Prime Minister of the country.

The BJP has won every Assembly election in the state since 1995.
