Continuing to power the electoral campaign of the BJP in the upcoming Gujarat Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Wednesday address four back-to-back rallies in different parts of South Gujarat, where polling for the first phase will be held on December 9.
PM Modi will begin the day by addressing the people at 11:00 am in Morbi district, which was one of the worst affected districts in the floods that ravaged the state of Gujarat earlier this year.
Later, the prime minister will address rallies in Prachi town in Junagadh district, Palitana in Bhavnagar district, and Navsari town in Surat district at 01:25 pm, 03:30 pm and 05:30 pm respectively.
Navsari is considered a bastion of BJP as the party has continued to retain the seat since 1990.
Modi, who launched a campaign blitzkrieg on Monday, addressing four election rallies in different parts of Saurashtra and south Gujarat, will hold four more tomorrow, after a day's break during which he inaugurated the Global Entrepreneurship Summit and the Hyderabad Metro in the Telangana capital.
"Each rally has been organised in such a way that people from five to six surrounding constituencies can also attend it," Gujarat BJP in-charge Bhupender Yadav Yadav told PTI.
Sounding the BJP’s poll bugle in Gujarat while taking the Congress head-on, PM Modi had on Monday said that he might have sold tea to earn a living, but never sold his nation.
“The Congress dislikes me because of my poor origin. Can a party stoop so low? Yes, a person belonging to a poor family has become the prime minister. They do not fail to hide their contempt for this fact. Yes, I sold tea but I did not sell the nation,” said PM Modi while addressing a rally in Gujarat’s Rajkot.
Modi, who started his high voltage campaign with rallies in Bhuj in Kutch district, Jasdan in Rajkot, Chalala in Amreli and Kadodara near Surat, took on the opposition Congress on issues related to China, Lashkar-e-Taiba's Hafiz Saeed, the surgical strike as well as corruption.
The polling for the two-phase elections in the state, having total 182 Assembly seats, will take place on 9 and 14 December and votes will be counted on 18 December.
While 89 seats of Saurashtra and South Gujarat region will go to polls in the first phase, the election in the remaining 93 constituencies in central and northern regions will be held in the second phase.
