Congress President Rahul Gandhi today claimed that his party will win 135 seats in next Assembly elections.
“Let me assure you, in the next Gujarat elections we will win 135 seats. In the meantime, you will not retreat. You will not give an inch. You will counter the BJP,” Rahul Gandhi said while addressing a gathering of party workers in Ahmedabad.
He also held BJP’s campaign of defamation against Congress party workers and leaders responsible for the defeat of the Congress in the just-concluded Assembly elections.
“Let me tell you about the reasons for our defeat. In the last 20 years, the BJP and Mr Modi have run a campaign of defamation against Congress party workers and leaders,” he said.
The newly elected Congress President started his day by offering prayers at the Somnath temple in the state. Addressing the newly elected MLAs in Gujarat, Congress said that they should keep working for the people of the state as their performance will impact the performance of the party in the upcoming 2019 general election.
