NEET-UG counselling postponed? Health Ministry issues clarification
The NEET-UG counselling was scheduled to begin on July 6, however, it was postponed, sources said.
Reports on Saturday surfaced that the NEET-UG counselling dates have been postponed. As per the information, the counselling was scheduled to begin on July 6. However, clearing the air over the matter, the Health Ministry issued a clarification and dismissed reports regarding the postponement of counselling dates. In a statement, the government said NEET UG counselling has not been notified yet, hence the news of its deferment is incorrect.
It has been noticed that news regarding the deferment of NEET UG counselling has been doing the rounds in some media groups. This is to clarify that the date of NEET UG counselling has not been notified yet, hence the news of its deferment is incorrect, the Health Ministry said.
During a hearing in the Supreme Court, the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the NEET exams, had mentioned that counseling would start on July 6, and the Supreme Court did not impose any restrictions on this.
According to sources, the concerned department and ministry are currently keeping an eye on the Supreme Court hearing scheduled for July 8.
The development comes as the Supreme Court refused to delay the NEET-UG counselling which was scheduled to begin on Saturday.
The Supreme Court will hear various pleas related to NEET-UG 2024 on July 8. The pleas will be heard by a bench of CJI DY Chandrachud along with Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra. In the pleas, some petitioners have demanded the cancellation of the full exam alleging paper leak and reconduction of the medical entrance exam while others have sought an investigation into the operations of the NTA.
The NEET-UG counselling is held in multiple rounds with stray vacancy rounds and mop-up rounds. The candidates who cracked the entrance test will first have to register and pay the fees against the counselling, fill in the choices, upload documents and walk into the allotted place in person.
NEET-UG 2024
This year, the NEET UG 2024 exam was conducted on May 5 across the country. The results for the same were announced on June 4. After the announcement of the results, there were reports of paper links in Bihar and other irregularities across different states. To address this issue, the testing agency conducted an NEET UG re-exam on June 23 for as many as 1,563 candidates who were awarded grace marks. However, only 813 of these candidates had appeared for the medical exam. The testing agency released the answer keys for the re-exam on June 29 and the results on July 1.

- Click on the counselling page
- Now, click on 'NEET UG counselling schedule'
- It will redirect you to the login page where you need to provide your credentials
- Once done, proceed with the application form
- Upload documents, make payment and click on 'submit'
- Take a printout of the confirmation page for future reference
