Delhi Nursery Admission Process: Registration for admission to nursery, KG, and Class 1 started on Thursday, November 23 in over private schools in the city. Although no data could be gathered as to how many registrations were made on the first day, many parents have completed the registration process through school websites, as per media reports. It is important to note that most schools have opted for an online registration process and plan to release the first list of admissions on January 12, 2023. The deadline for registration of general category students in nursery, KG and Class 1 is December 15, as per the schedule.
As per the official schedule, the details of children who have applied for admission under open seats will be uploaded on December 29, 2023. The board will upload the marks of the children based on the points system on January 1, 2024. The first list of selected children, along with the waiting list and marks allotted under the points system, will be uploaded on January 12, 2024. After that, the resolution of queries of parents, if any regarding allotment of points to their wards for the first list will be given between January 13 and 22 by written/email/verbal interaction. The second list will be released on January 29, 2024.
Parents can access application form via QR
During an interview with news agency, PTI, Principal of ITL Public School Sudha Acharya said most admissions are happening online and that they have added a QR code for parents to access the form easily.
“We just started the registration process and it is happening mostly online. We have done a new thing this year, that is – adding a QR code for parents to access the form easily. Parents can scan the code and access the admission form. There are introductory videos also. Most of the parents are working people, so this is working well for them,” Acharya said, quoted PTI. She further added that there are a total of 190 seats for nursery in ITL Public School and almost 2,000 admission forms are submitted by parents every year.

Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit
The minimum age for admission to pre-school (nursery), pre-primary (KG) and class 1 should be three, four, and five years respectively, as of March 31. The upper age limit for pre-school, pre-primary and class 1 should be below four, five, and six years, respectively, according to a report by PTI. Parents desiring age relaxation can apply manually by submitting a request to the school head or principal, reads the official notice.
Seat Reservation
It should be noted that 25 per cent of seats are reserved for the students belonging to the EWS, DG, and children with disability categories in all private unaided recognised schools.
Tie Breaker
If a tie happens among the applicants, a random selection process will be implemented either through computerised means or by drawing slips in the presence of parents. The entire process will be recorded through videography, and the school will maintain the footage for their record.
Application Fee
The official notice reads, 'Buying of prospectus of school along with application form is not mandatory for parents and schools can neither force parents to buy prospectus nor can charge any processing fee. Only Rs. 25/- (non-refundable) can be charged as an admission registration fee from parents.
What's next?
After the completion of the application procedure, Deputy Directors of Education (Distt.) shall compile the school-wise details of vacant seats under the General Category in Format-2 and forward the same to this branch by March 9, 2024, for publicizing the school-wise vacant seats details in the public domain in order to facilitate the schools to get vacant seats filled.
