UGC NET 2024 exams tomorrow; check do's and don'ts

National Testing Agency (NTA) is all set to conduct the University Grants Commission- National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) exam for the June session tomorrow, June 18. Those appearing in the UGC NET exam 2024 can check exam day guidelines along with reporting time and other details here.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the University Grants Commission- National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) exam for the June session tomorrow, June 18. The UGC NET examination will be conducted offline in OMR-based mode at 360 centres across the nation.

This examination will be conducted to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for the award of a Junior Research Fellowship, appointment as Assistant Professor,  and admission to Ph.D. in various Indian universities and colleges. The exam will be held for 83 subjects including two papers. Paper 1 will be for 100 marks (50 questions) and Paper II for 200 marks (100 questions) and the exam will be held in two shifts for 180 minutes. The first shift will be from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and the second shift from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The exam will consist of objective-type, multiple-choice questions. The National Testing Agency will not conduct any re-test under any circumstances.

UGC NET: Marking Scheme

  • For every correct answer, candidates will receive 2 marks.
  • There will be no negative marking for any incorrect answers.
  • For any un-attempted or unanswered questions, no marks will be given.
  • If a question is found to be incorrect or ambiguous or has multiple correct answers, only the candidates who attempted the question and chose any one of the correct answers will receive credits.
  • If a question is found to be incorrect and the question gets dropped, due to technical or human error, then two marks will be awarded to the candidates who attempted the question. As there is no negative marking, candidates will still have to choose one of the most appropriate options as the correct answer.

UGC NET 2024: Do's and Don'ts

  • Candidates must carry one passport-size photograph, the same as uploaded on the online application form, for pasting on a specifically provided space in the attendance sheet at the exam centre during the exam.
  • Candidates must carry their admit card as it serves the purpose of entry to the exam hall.
  • Candidates must carry the original and valid photocopy of photo ID proof such as Aadhar card, PAN card, Voter ID, etc.
  • Candidates must reach the exam centre before reporting time to avoid frisking.
  • Candidates must avoid wearing any kind of jewellery or clothing consisting of embroidery or pockets as it might raise suspicion while frisking.
  • Candidates must not carry electronic devices, mobile phones, or smartwatches with them inside the exam centre as these items are banned inside the exam halls.
  • Candidates must carry a black ballpoint pen with them.
  • Candidates must not bring any valuable items with them to the exam centre.
