What are the rules for extra marks?
To ensure a fair chance for all students, especially students from underrepresented or disadvantaged backgrounds, several rules have been established to provide additional marks in CUET. - Students who have completed their class 12 from government or private schools in rural areas are eligible for an additional 5 per cent weightage of their total marks. This rule is intended to promote higher education among students from rural backgrounds, acknowledging the challenges they face in accessing resources and quality education.
- Students who have been selected in the National Talent Search Exam (NTSE) are awarded a 10 per cent weightage in their CUET marks based on their performance. NTSE is a prestigious examination that identifies and nurtures talented students and this provision encourages high achievers to pursue further studies.
- Students who have actively participated in sports during their schooling can also benefit from extra marks. Students with a grade card from the district sports department can receive a weightage of 2 to 5 per cent, depending on their level of participation and achievements. This rule aims to support and encourage students who balance academics with sports, promoting a holistic approach to education.
- National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets holding B or C-level grade cards are eligible for additional weightage of 2 to 5 per cent in their CUET marks. This provision recognizes the discipline, leadership and service demonstrated by NCC cadets, rewarding their commitment and hard work.
