In a heartwarming tale of resilience and determination, a young girl from Perambur, Chennai, has emerged as the topper in the Tamil Nadu Board 12th-grade exams held by the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) schools. Despite humble beginnings and living with her family of four in a single-room dwelling, Poonkodi achieved academic excellence, clinching the top position in her class.
A dream to break barriers
Poonkodi, the daughter of an auto-rickshaw driver, harbours ambitions of becoming a Chartered Accountant (CA). She envisions a world where her parents don't have to worry about the price tag on basic necessities. Her aspirations extend beyond personal success, as she hopes for widespread access to quality education in her community of Kodungaiyur.
Family support and struggles
Apart from her parents, Poonkodi has a sister pursuing pharmaceutical studies. Despite the challenges of studying and living in cramped quarters, she and her sister remain focused on their education, aiming to alleviate their family's circumstances through their academic achievements.
A beacon of hope
Poonkodi's journey resonates with the famous words of poet Sahir Ludhianvi, "Thousands of veils may fall, millions of storms may arise, those flowers will continue to bloom that are destined to bloom." Her story served as an inspiration, highlighting the power of perseverance and the pursuit of dreams against all odds.
