Manish Sisodia addressed Aam Aadmi Party workers at a party event on Saturday, a day after getting released from Tihar jail. He said that the tears of party workers gave him strength. He targeted the Central government and said that AAP leaders were sent to jail in false cases. He asserted that Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal will also come out of jail very soon. He said that probe agencies like CBI and ED were used to break Arvind Kejriwal and that Delhi CM is the symbol of honesty.
Sisodia said, "These tears have given me strength...I was hoping that justice would be delivered in 7-8 months. It took 17 months but honesty and truth have won." Talking about the Supreme Court's order for his release, Sisodia said that the apex court has crushed the dictatorship. He also referred to his advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi as God for him as he got him released.
Earlier today, he visited the Hanuman Temple at Connaught Place and paid obeisance. Following this, he visited Rajghat and paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. Sisodia was granted bail by the Supreme Court on August 9. While granting the bail, the Supreme Court reiterated that "bail is a rule and jail is an exception," and bail cannot be denied as a form of punishment.
Following his release, Sisodia visited the residence of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who remains in custody related to the same case. The visit was marked by emotional scenes, as Kejriwal's wife, Sunita, was moved to tears. Sisodia also sought blessings from Kejriwal's parents, expressing his gratitude for their support during his legal battle.
The former deputy chief minister of Delhi was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on February 26, 2023, for purported irregularities in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy 2021-22. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested him in the money laundering case stemming from the CBI FIR on March 9, 2023.
The Supreme Court had on August 6 reserved its verdict in the bail plea in connection with the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy of 2021-22. Sisodia has been in custody since February 26, 2023.
