Moments after the Supreme Court announced its verdict on the bail granted to AAP leader Manish Sisodia in the Excise Policy irregularities case, leaders across the Aam Aadmi Party on Friday (August 8) expressed their relief, stating that the prayers of the people of Delhi had finally been answered and that the 'father of the education revolution' would be released from jail after 1.5 years.
'The whole country is happy today'
Significantly, while AAP leader Sanjay Singh hailed the apex court's decision as a great relief to the Aam Aadmi Party and the people of Delhi, AAP's another Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha, remarked that Manish Sisodia's only crime was that he gave a better future to the children of the poor.
Further, it is pertinent to note that the other leaders across the AAP's party line also lauded the apex court's order stating that there were no truth to the matter. While, AAP leader and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Sisodia's release said, the former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister's bail order justifies victory of truth, AAP's Saurabh Bharadwaj said, "This decision of the Supreme Court has set a precedent for the judicial system of the entire country. The comments made by the court while delivering the verdict today will be a lesson for all the courts. The agencies have not yet started the trial in this case. This is a complete conspiracy of the central government to put its opponents in jail and prolong the trial. Today the court has set an example for all such cases by granting bail to Manish Sisodia."
'About the Court's verdict'
Meanwhile, Supreme Court advocate representing the AAP leader, Rishikesh Kumar elaborated on the court's decision. He said, "Supreme Court has granted bail to Manish Sisodia, both in CBI and ED cases. He was in jail for the last 17 months. Supreme Court has also said that from Manish Sisodia's side, there has been no delay in the trial and has also said that the trial Court and the High Court should ensure that all the cases seeking bail don't reach the Supreme Court. Supreme Court has withheld the cardinal principle of 'bail is rule and jail is an exception'... The order has just come and as soon as we fulfil the conditions in trial Court, Manish Sisodia will be released."
