A wall collapse in the Vasant Vihar area of southwest Delhi has raised concerns as several labourers are feared trapped, officials reported on Friday. The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) received an emergency call about the collapse at 5:30 AM, prompting the deployment of two fire tenders.

Rescue operations

Senior police officials stated that some construction workers are feared to be trapped in the mud slush, although the exact number remains unconfirmed. Rescue operations are underway with teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), civic agencies, fire service, and police on the scene.

Heavy rains contribute

The incident comes as heavy rains lashed Delhi early Friday, leading to significant waterlogging and traffic disruptions in various parts of the city. The adverse weather conditions have further complicated the rescue efforts.

Efforts are ongoing to locate and rescue the trapped laborers, and authorities are working to manage the aftermath of both the collapse and the heavy rains impacting the city.
