The national capital, Delhi, has been heavily impacted by ongoing rains, leading to significant waterlogging in various areas. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced that the Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector-25 Metro Station is closed for entry and exit due to severe waterlogging.

Shuttle service suspended

Additionally, the shuttle service from Delhi Aerocity Metro Station to Terminal 1-IGI Airport has been suspended. However, normal services continue on all other metro lines. DMRC advises commuters to leave home earlier than usual.

Commuters face challenges

Delhi Metro, a daily mode of transport for millions, is experiencing disruptions with waterlogged pathways, making access to stations difficult. Heavy crowds are usually seen at metro stations during peak hours, adding to the challenges faced by commuters.

Traffic jams reported

Delhi Traffic Police reported on social media platform 'X' about waterlogging affecting traffic flow at various points, including 'Y-Point' near Salimgarh and Nigambodh Ghat, affecting routes from Shantivan to ISBT and vice versa on the Outer Ring Road. Traffic disruptions were also noted at ITO, Veer Banda Bairagi Marg, and Dhaula Kuan due to the heavy rains.

Heavy rain impact

Since late Thursday night, heavy rainfall has led to waterlogging on roads and even caused a section of the roof at Indira Gandhi International Airport's Terminal 1 to collapse. The Safdarjung weather station recorded 153.7 millimeters of rain. Social media is flooded with videos and images of waterlogged streets and traffic jams.
