Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) experienced heavy rainfall starting in the early hours of Wednesday. The downpour was accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning, leading to waterlogging in several areas. Notably, Vasant Vihar in Delhi witnessed significant rainfall, with visuals showing rain-soaked streets and slowed traffic. The rain provided much-needed relief from the humid weather that had gripped the region over the past few days. The rainfall on August 25 was particularly welcomed by residents, offering a cool respite.

Delhi experienced significant waterlogging on Wednesday morning following heavy rainfall. Areas such as Mehrauli-Gurgaon Road and Delhi Gate saw vehicles struggling through waterlogged streets amid traffic jams. The Regional Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow alert for the capital due to continuing adverse weather.

Traffic advisories and congestion

The Delhi Traffic Police issued advisories warning commuters about disrupted routes. Waterlogging at the Okhla Underpass has led to congestion on Road No. 13 towards Crown Plaza. Traffic is also hindered on Rohtak Road from Nangloi to Tikri Border due to potholes and water accumulation. Additionally, Mathura Road is facing delays due to a tree uprooting near Mohan Estate Metro Station.

Weather impact

The intense rain, which began early Wednesday, followed light showers across the city on Tuesday during Shri Krishna Janmashtami.
