The Delhi High Court quashed the Muslim side's plea which challenged the decision to install a statue of Rani Laxmi Bai in on a DDA land in front of Shahi Eidgah in Delhi on Tuesday. After the High Court's order, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is set to start the acquisition process to take custody of the land on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, heavy police force have been deployed in the Shahi Eidgah complex. The DDA team has reached the site. As the High Court junked the plea, it warned the applicants to refrain from giving the statue installation a communal colour. The court also asked the Muslim side of what problem did they have with the statue of Jhansi ki Rani.

What is the matter?

Actually, the statue of Rani Lakshmibai is installed at the intersection near Jhandewalan temple. This intersection has to be removed, after which the question arose as to where the statue should be shifted. There was talk of installing the statue on a large DDA land near Shahi Idgah, which was opposed by the people of the Muslim community

The Muslim side went to court. The court on Tuesday reprimanded the lawyer of the Muslim community. Earlier, the matter had also gone to the Delhi Minority Commission, which had asked to maintain the status quo. The High Court has also termed the decision of the Delhi Election Commission as wrong.
